Former Orlando Expressway Authority Board Member to Plead Guilty to Violating Open-Records Laws

Text size: AA
June 03 --Former Orlando Expressway Authority board member Marco Pena will plead guilty in an Orange County courtroom Wednesday for breaking state laws forbidding him from talking about agency business in private, State Attorney Jeff Ashton announced moments ago.

An Orange County grand jury has been investigating the authority since the summer and in April indicted board member Scott Batterson on three bribery related charges. Batterson was suspended from his volunteer board position and is free on $3,000 bond.

Pena or his legal representative is supposed to appear before Judge Carolyn Freeman tomorrow morning to plead guilty to one misdemeanor count of violating Florida's Sunshine Law, according to a release from Ashton's office.

He is expected to pay a $500 fine and court costs, the release said.

Pena, a growth strategist at Florida Hospital , is cooperating with authorities, the release said.

This is a breaking story. Check back later for more details.
