Award of Merit - Higher Education/Research
This project, a collaboration between Virginia Polytechnic and State University and Carilion Clinic, represents Virginia Tech's entrance into the medical education field. It was delivered under the Commonwealth of Virginia's Public Private Educational Facilities Infrastructure Act.
A fast-tracked approach reduced the overall duration of design and construction by more than 10 months. The building's exterior combines Hokie stone from the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg with the brick and precast architectural concrete of the Carilion Riverside campus in Roanoke.
