Multiple Military Projects Move Forward in Charleston, S.C.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has awarded Suffolk Construction Co. of West Palm Beach, Fla., a $9.5-million design-build contract for a data center at Naval Weapons Station Charleston. The project is expected to be completed by June 2011.

Also, Orlando-based SchenkelShultz Architecture reported that groundbreaking took place in late April on the $8-million Naval Brig expansion the firm designed for the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston. Hunt Construction Group of Tampa is the design-builder.
