Skanska to Construct $49-Million Facility for City of Gainesville

Text size: A A

Skanska USA announced it will build the $49-million head office for the City of Gainesville’s Regional Utilities unit.

The nine-building GRU facility will comprise the head office for Gainesville’s various utilities units for energy, water and wastewater, as well as the telephone and data networks. In addition to offices and a hurricane-hardened data center, the facility will also house equipment service areas and warehousing.

The buildings will be designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. Skanska started work on the project in April and is targeting an October 2011 completion.
