A team of junior and senior students at University of Florida’s Rinker School of Building Construction scored a first-place finish in the annual Southeast Regional Construction Management Competition, sponsored by Associated General Contractors of Florida and the Associated Schools of Construction.
The UF team competed with student teams from more than 30 colleges in the region. The competition, held in Jacksonville, Fla., was formatted as a real-world proposal process with student teams attempting to sell their construction management-at-risk services to the judges, who acted as owners of a prospective project. Teams prepared written qualifications packages that were submitted prior to the competition, submitted a formal proposal and guaranteed maximum price at the competition, and gave 15-minute oral presentations for judges.
Balfour Beatty Construction of Orlando sponsored the UF team.
