Scott MacLeod was promoted to co-chief operating officer for Skanska USA Building in Durham, N.C. In this role, MacLeod will oversee operations in Skanska’s Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia regions. A 26-year veteran of the construction industry, MacLeod has been with Skanska since 2002.
Bill Johnson was named president and CEO of QORE Property Sciences, the Duluth, Ga.-based engineering and consulting firm.
Prior to joining QORE, he served as president and CEO of former BE&K subsidiary NorthStar Communications Group. QORE has a staff of nearly 500, and more than 15 offices throughout the Southeast. In addition to his 10 years with BE&K, Johnson spent 11 years with FluorDaniel.
Larry Gellerstedt was named president and chief operating officer for Atlanta-based developer Cousins Properties. He has more than 30 years of industry experience. Gellerstedt joined Cousins following the acquisition of his firm, The Gellerstedt Group, in June 2005, and most recently served as executive vice president and chief development officer.
Mike Murphy, of Turner Murphy Co., Rock Hill, S.C., will chair the board of directors of the Carolinas Associated General Contractors. Ron Cohn was named senior vice president – construction operations at Rodgers Builders in Charlotte, N.C. Cohn has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He has been with Rodgers Builders since 1994.
Pirtle Construction Co. of Davie, Fla., recently promoted Jeff Miles, Leonor Flores and Matt Mahoney to the position of senior project manager. The company also hired Steven Roth as a senior project manager.
Miles, a graduate of the University of Florida, joined Pirtle in 1999 as a project engineer. Flores, a graduate of Florida International University, joined Pirtle in 2006, and has 15 years of construction industry experience.
Mahoney, who joined Pirtle in 2001 as a project manager, has more than 20 years of construction industry experience.
Roth joins Pirtle from Gryphon Construction. A graduate of the University of Florida, he has more than 21 years of construction experience.
Steve Cover, former planning commissioner for the City of Atlanta, was named managing principal for HOK’s Atlanta office. His role will be to establish and manage the strategy for the office and its various practices and disciplines.
Cover has a master’s degree in city planning and a master’s degree in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Timothy A. Wagoner was promoted to principal at SchenkelShultz Architecture in Orlando. He leads the firm’s higher education design group. He holds a master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Florida.
Don Hensley has joined MAPP Construction in Orlando as director of business development for the Florida division. He previously worked in a similar capacity for BE&K Building Group of Orlando.

Glenn Ivey has joined PB Americas in Tampa as senior supervising construction engineer/Florida West Coast area construction manager. He has nearly four decades of industry experience. He will manage the construction engineering and inspection of the $129 million Interstate 275 West Tampa project, currently under construction.
Keene Construction Co. of Orlando promoted Chad Birchard to construction services representative. He’ll be responsible for marketing, pre-construction services and business development initiatives. He previously served as project superintendent.
Timothy A. Rudolph was promoted to senior associate at Dewberry, an engineering and architectural services firm. Rudolph, located in the Charlotte, N.C., office, has more than 34 years of surveying experience.
The firm also promoted Christopher M. Fleck to engineering department manager. He will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities with a focus on site and civil development, marketing, and office growth.

HITT Contracting of Atlanta promoted Edward Miko to senior project manager. Miko joined HITT’s Atlanta office in 2000 and has more than 11 years of industry experience. He specializes in tenant build-outs and renovations for clients in the Southeast.
