Perry Covey has joined BRPH of Melbourne, Fla., as director of construction, responsible for leading the day to-day-operations of the firm’s construction division. Covey has 30 years of construction management experience.
Covey holds a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Missouri. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Scott Hudson was appointed director of preconstruction services for the Jacksonville, Fla., office of Batson-Cook Co. In this capacity, he will oversee constructability reviews, estimating and schedule development.
Hudson formerly served as the company’s senior project manager for education projects. He is a 14-year veteran of Batson-Cook.
Jennifer Jackson has joined general contractor J.L. Wallace in Fort Myers, Fla., as director of business development. She’ll be responsible for client relationships, research of developing projects and networking.
Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
Marc Carpenter has joined Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood in Crestview, Fla., as business development manager. Carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran, has more than 13 years experience managing and selling engineering services to a variety of industries involving environmental, commercial, industrial, aerospace and defense projects.
Tom Teabo has joined Mulkey Engineers & Consultants of Raleigh, N.C., as the firm’s Cary, N.C., survey group manager. He has more than 30 years of industry experience in surveying, land development, engineering and consulting.
In his new role, Teabo is responsible for supervising and managing the firm’s conventional, GPS and laser scanning survey activities. He is also responsible for project and client management, as well as quality assurance and control within the Triangle-based survey group.
Anthony B. Robison has joined general contractor/construction manager Wharton-Smith of Sanford, Fla., as manager of the firm’s health-care construction department. Robison brings with him more than 20 years of industry experience and has completed several AHCA certified health-care projects.
Pete Turrell, senior engineering manager with Parsons Brinckerhoff, was appointed by the Florida Department of Transportation as chief operating officer of the Central Florida Commuter Rail Transit project in Orlando.
In his new role, Turrell will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of CFCRT commuter rail operations and service. PB will be responsible for guidance of the technical review of final design, vehicle procurement and manufacturing, construction and start-up of the CFCRT system on behalf of FDOT, which is responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of commuter rail service along a 61-mi corridor in Central Florida.
The CFCRT project extends from Amtrak’s Deland Station in Volusia County, its northern terminus, through Orlando to Poinciana Boulevard in Osceola County, its southern terminus. The project will utilize the existing CSXT “A Line” route through the project limits.
The new commuter rail service will be implemented in two phases. The first phase is the 31-mi-long north corridor from DeBary to Orlando and is proposed to be operational by 2011. The second phase is the 23-mi south corridor, from Orlando to Poinciana Boulevard, and a 7-mi extension farther north to the Deland Amtrak station.
Michael Lash has joined consulting engineering firm Eisman & Russo of Jacksonville, Fla., as director of land development. Lash will oversee the firm’s land development division and head its business development initiatives.
He has more than 17 years of experience in the development of residential, commercial, roadway and drainage projects.
Douglas R. Barkley, founder of Barkley Consulting Engineers of Tallahassee, Fla., was honored by the National Society of Professional Engineers with the organization’s 2008 National Mentor of the Year Award.
Barkley was nominated for this national award by the Big Bend Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, and was presented the award at the FES annual convention.
GATES of Naples, Fla., recently hired Rachelle Dover as director of marketing and business development. In her 20-plus year career, Dover has focused on the construction and real estate industry.
Bridget Trombley-Nunez has joined Herman • Strackbein Construction of Naples, Fla., as director of business development. She has more than 10 years of experience in marketing and business development within Florida’s construction industry.
Julie Gilmore has joined Zirkelbach Construction in Palmetto, Fla., as executive assistant. Gilmore was previously employed by Schroeder Manatee Ranch.
Naomi Stevenson of Maschmeyer Concrete was recently installed as 2008-2009 president of the National Association of Women in Construction’s Greater Palm Beach, Fla., Chapter #87. The group’s other officers include: vice president – Miriam Colen of W.G. Mills; recording secretary – Checree Bryant of Wells Fargo Insurance Services; and treasurer – Sandra Barrett of Palm Beach Community College.

Renato J. Gonzalez has been assigned as office leader for the new Deland, Fla., office of RS&H. The office was opened to accommodate the firm’s growth in the Central Florida area. Prior to this appointment, Gonzalez has been responsible for managing RS&H’s highway design practice in Orlando since 2003.
He has more than 25 years of industry experience.
Doug Stevens has joined Safety Guys of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as leader of the firm’s sales team. Safety Guys provides on-site safety services, nets and other products to South Florida high-rise projects.
Stevens has more than 28 years of construction industry experience, most recently working as a sales manager for Aluma Systems Concrete Construction.
In addition to managing the sales process and managing the firm’s safety, product and netting divisions, Stevens also will oversee possible expansion into other markets outside of South Florida.
