Elton “Al” Gogolin has been promoted to vice president of operations at Skanska USA Building in Atlanta. In his new position, Gogolin will manage the operations of Skanska’s Special Projects Group, focusing on interior buildouts, small-base buildings and all task-oriented contracts.
Gogolin previously worked as Skanska’s director of business development.
Steven Mikesell has joined HNTB Corp. as a project manager in the firm’s traffic and planning group in Lake Mary, Fla. He will be responsible for managing transportation planning and traffic engineering efforts. Mikesell has 11 years of related experience.
Rob Baldwin was named president of the construction services division of Melbourne, Fla.-based BRPH Cos. Baldwin, who has more than 25 years experience in the construction industry, most recently worked with Hardin Construction Co.
Also new to the BRPH team is Gary Kreisler, who will direct the firm’s sales and business development efforts as BRPH Construction Services extends its regional focus. Kreisler has spent more than 25 years in construction and program management business development in the Central Florida area.
William A. “Bill” Frerking has been named Georgia-Pacific vice president and chief sustainability officer in Atlanta. He previously was chief counsel for the company’s building products businesses.
In this newly created position, Frerking is responsible for the company’s overall sustainability efforts, including working with Georgia-Pacific’s business units and procurement and staff groups to develop and implement sustainability strategies, goals, measurement and reporting. He also will represent the company in sustainability discussions with customers and other groups.
Chuck Sauls was promoted to vice president of preconstruction for Hardin Construction Co. in Atlanta. Sauls joined Hardin in 1999 as an estimator in the company’s Orlando office.
Also in Atlanta, Tim Shands was promoted to senior project manager. Shands joined Hardin Construction in 2004 as a project manager, and is currently working on the company’s 3344 Peachtree and Sovereign mixed-use project in Atlanta.
In its Tampa office, Hardin promoted both Bryan Smith and Dave Poplawski to senior superintendent. Smith joined Hardin in 2002, and Poplawski has been with Hardin since 1980.
In Orlando, Drew Emerson was promoted to construction manager. He joined Hardin in 1998.
Dana Mortensen has joined BJAC of Raleigh, N.C., as an interior designer. Mortensen will focus on space planning and sustainable design and building operation.
Also, Jim Briglia has joined the firm as a registered architect. Briglia has more than 17 years of industry experience.
WilsonMiller has hired three new project managers for its Tampa office: Bashar Albashir, a senior project manager in transportation planning and design; Jose De Jesus, a project manager in public infrastructure; and John C. Vecchio, a senior project manager in development design.
Albashir spent the last three years managing the civil engineering department of the Parsons Corp. in Saudi Arabia. De Jesus most recently served with CPH Engineers in Sarasota. Prior to joining WilsonMiller, Vecchio served as director of planning and engineering for EarthMark Cos. of Fort Myers.
Also, Mishelle Hilliard has joined WilsonMiller’s Sarasota office as a member of its Design Business Unit, which provides landscape architecture, land planning and graphic design services.
Stuart Rogers was named chief operating officer and Michael Hardy was named chief financial officer for Hamilton Engineering & Surveying in Tampa.
Josh Payne was named director of business development for Southern Industrial Constructors/Southern Crane, a full-service industrial contractor headquartered in Raleigh, N.C.
Joe Sorrentino was named vice president of business development for PSI’s National Client Group. He will be based in Orlando, Fla. Sorrentino began his career with PSI as a project manager.
Joseph S. Adams has joined Randall-Paulson Architects in Roswell, Ga., as an associate. A senior project architect, Adams has more than 10 years of industry experience.
Orlando-based Tilt-Con Corp. named Carla Getz as estimator and Chris Paren as assistant project engineer. Each graduated from the University of Florida’s School of Building Construction.
James Jackson joined Miller Legg as a project surveyor in the firm’s Pembroke Pines, Fla., office. He has more than 28 years of surveying and mapping experience in South Florida.
Frederick Bass has joined Shaw Mechanical Services in Orlando as a project manager in the mechanical contracting division. Bass is responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial mechanical construction projects.
GLE Associates in Tampa has hired David Bostain as its director of engineering services in the MEP engineering department. He has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and previously worked as senior mechanical engineer for Chugach Management Services, MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa and is a former licensed nuclear reactor operator.
The firm also announced the addition of Michael Doyle and the promotion of Nathalie Krastev to its corporate business development group.
In Fort Lauderdale, the firm hired William Reese as department manager for its site environmental and remediation department.
In Orlando, GLE Associates promoted Steve Wargo to operations manager for its Central Florida environmental sciences department.
Carmen T. Budnovich was named chief financial officer at D & A Building Services, a facility maintenance company in Longwood, Fla. Budnovich brings 14 years of experience in accounting and finance to her position.
