Russell A. Ardillo
has been named project executive in Turner Construction Co.’s Atlanta office. Adillo’s executive responsibilities have included assignments for Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, S.C. and Emory University in Atlanta.


Baker Barrios Architects in Orlando promoted Michael Houseman, Tyler T. Kirby and Douglas R. Leonard to the position of principal.

Houseman, who previously served as associate principal and studio director, has been with Baker Barrios since 2003 and is responsible for the design, client relations, production and project management of public- and private-sector projects.

As principal and director of business development, Kirby manages all marketing efforts for the firm’s four offices. She has been with the firm since 2002.

Leonard holds 26 years of experience in architecture management. He joined the firm in 2006.



M. Louie Akel joined Deerfield Beach-based SIKON Construction Corp. as vice president of operations-Central Florida in the company’s new Orlando office. In heading up the new office, Akel brings over 20 years of commercial construction experience to his position. He previously served as director of operations for Brice Building Co. in Orlando.


Girish Thallapragada has joined HNTB Corp.’s Miami office as an intelligent transportation systems engineer. He will assist with ITS and traffic signal design assignments throughout South Florida.


Casey M. McConnell has joined Kraft Construction Co. of Naples, Fla., as an assistant project manager. McConnell has more than five years of construction industry experience, and is LEED-certified. She previously worked with Skanska USA Building as a project engineer and LEED manager.


Taghi Afkham has joined the Miami office of architecture, engineering and design firm Leo A. Daly as senior health care project manager.

Afkham has more than 26 years of experience in design, planning, scheduling and project management, and has specialized in health care project design and construction management. He previously served as the director of capital projects at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.


Raymond Dennis III has been named an associate in WilsonMiller’s Tampa office. Formerly a project manager and senior scientist at Environmental Affairs Consultants, Dennis joined WilsonMiller when the firm acquired EAC in May.

He will serve as a senior ecologist in the firm’s ecological and water resources business unit.


Brett Pittman has joined Warren and Associates Design-Build in Greenville, S.C., as a general superintendent. Pittman has more than 25 years of construction industry experience, including more than 20 years with the former Suitt Construction Co.


DooleyMack Constructors of Sarasota, Fla., announced several new hires. Melissa McBride and Erika R. Olsen were hired as estimators; Bill Vicary Jr. was hired as director of business development; and Lori Howard was named marketing services coordinator.


David Kirk has joined Carter & Burgess in Fort Lauderdale as the land development unit manager. Kirk formerly served as civil engineering manager for land development services with WD Partners of Dublin, Ohio, and has 24 years of experience in site civil and development engineering


Aage G. Schroder III has been named Florida transportation services leader for MACTEC Engineering & Consulting’s offices in Jacksonville, Fla. Schroder has more than 37 years of transportation engineering experience, specializing in traffic engineering and transportation planning.


Nicole Maxey has joined the transportation engineering division of Hole Montes in Fort Myers, Fla. She has more than eight years of transportation facility design and project management experience.


Cheryl Baldwin has joined Suffolk Construction Co. in West Palm Beach as marketing manager for the company’s Florida division. She is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s marketing efforts.


Ai Group of Atlanta promoted Michael Wilkinson, Ken Finley and Francisco Trujillo to the level of associate.

Wilkinson has been with the company since 1993, and has served as a project manager and director. Finley heads the firm’s 3D studio. Trujillo, with Ai Group since 2000, is a project manager.



Craig Starkey has joined Concord Eastridge, a national real estate developer of public and mixed-use facilities, as vice president of development in the company’s new Orlando office. Also, Sonia Nordelo was hired as development manager.

Starkey’s responsibilities include project identification, feasibility and deal structuring, and pre-development activities. He has more than 25 years of real estate development and finance experience.

As development manager, Nordelo’s responsibilities include development and construction loan administration, contract negotiations and administration. She has more than 13 years of building, urban design and management experience.


Murry A. Bullion has joined AVID Group in Palm Harbor, Fla., as vice president and chief operating officer. Bullion has more than 32 years of technical and management experience in the architecture and engineering industry.


Justin Maynard was appointed business development and pre-construction associate for central and west Florida at Tilt-Con Corp. in Orlando. He has five years of construction industry experience.


John Messerian has joined Calvin, Giordano & Associates in Fort Lauderdale as director of the municipal engineering division. He has more than 30 years of industry experience, and was previously a senior associate and director of engineering with T.Y. Lin International.


Jacques Mebius has joined Cortland Partners, an Atlanta-based multifamily development firm, as development director. Mebius entered the real estate field in 1994 after a career in accounting, venture capital and retail. He has been active in apartment development and management as well as the conversion of apartments to condominiums.


Carey Foley and Carlton Hughes have joined Mathews/Taylor Construction in Punta Gorda, Fla. Foley, previously with Centex Homes, was named project engineer. Hughes, with six years of industry experience, was named assistant project manager.



John P. Ehrig
has joined Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock/Architects, making it the only architectural firm in Florida with three American Institute of Architects Fellows on staff. Fellowship in the AIA is the highest honor that can be conferred upon a member.



Grant D. Black has joined the marketing department in Owen-Ames-Kimball Co.’s Fort Myers, Fla., office. Black’s responsibilities will be graphic design functions to include advertising, collateral marketing material and Web site design.


Michael Rossin has joined Oliver-Glidden-Spina & Partners Architecture and Interior Design in West Palm Beach as a senior project architect. He has more than 25 years of related experience.


Dennis Blankenship was named regional group manager for Woolpert’s survey department in Orlando. He will be responsible for business development and staff resource support within the firm’s Atlanta, Orlando and Miami offices. He has 37 years of experience in the disciplines of engineering and surveying and mapping in the southeastern United States.

Woolpert provides professional surveying and mapping, engineering, architectural, geospatial and related consulting services.



Mark Sealy has joined Raleigh, N.C.-based design firm BJAC as design leader and manager of the firm’s Charlotte office. He will coordinate and develop the efforts of the firm’s designers for education, health care, research and municipal projects. He has more than 20 years of industry experience.


MWarren Conley has joined Palmer Electric Co. in Winter Park, Fla., as a senior project manager in the commercial division.


Advait Mantri, a sustainable HVAC design engineer, has joined the Orlando office of Green Building Services. Mantri has more than 20 years of industry experience


David H. Bradbury of Precision Concrete Construction in Alpharetta, Ga., was recently appointed as the 2007-08 president of the American Subcontractors Association in Alexandria, Va.

Bradbury has nearly 40 years of estimating, project management and executive experience in commercial and industrial construction, specifically in the concrete construction sector.

Other ASA officers include: vice president – William J. Olmo III of Fedco Construction in Santa Rosa, Calif.; treasurer – Darlene Aitken of Holes Inc., Houston; and secretary – Timmy McLaughlin, Austin Construction Co., Summerville, S.C.


Patrick O’Brien, director of the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association in St. Petersburg, Fla., was re-elected president of the International Association of Concrete Drillers and Sawers. The election was held at the group’s recent annual meeting in Murnau, Germany.
