M. Brantley Barrow, vice chairman and chief financial officer with Atlanta-based Hardin Construction Co. recently received Junior Achievement Worldwide's 2005 Gold Leadership Award. Barrow was selected from more than 178,000 volunteers worldwide to win the organization's highest award for volunteerism.

Barrow led the campaign that resulted in the redevelopment of the Junior Achievement Georgia headquarters building. Through his involvement, Hardin Construction provided pro-bono land-planning, zoning, construction-management and fundraising assistance.

JA Worldwide is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and entrepreneurship.


J. Bennett Dellinger III has been named chief financial officer for Rodgers Builders of Charlotte. Dellinger has been with Rodgers since 1985, most recently in the position of senior vice president of finance.


Tim Nichols and Tony Buckli have been named vice presidents at Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum of Atlanta. Also, the firm has named senior vice president Karen League to its board of directors. Additionally, Judy Clements, business development director, was appointed to HOK's marketing board.

The firm also has announced numerous other appointments in Atlanta. Scott Southerland and Anthony Pascocello have been hired as project architects, while Steve Foran was named to the advance strategies team as a strategic planner. Also, Craig Anderchak has joined the interior design studio as senior designer.

Additionally, J. Stuart Lewis, Scott MacKenzie, Jason Summers and Kim Sydnor were named associates.


Ed Sweeney has joined Southern Construction Group of Jacksonville, Fla., as a project manager. Sweeney has 20 years of experience in land acquisition, design, permitting, estimating and construction management.


Angela Gittens has joined the Miami office of HNTB Corp. as vice president, airport business services. Gittens has more than 20 years of aviation industry experience, and most recently served as director of the Miami-Dade County Aviation Department, where she was responsible for the operations of Miami International Airport, three general aviation airports and two training airports. Under her direction, Miami International undertook a $4.8 billion capital development program.

Her prior airport leadership positions include general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from 1993 to 1998. At HNTB, she will lead a national team of professionals in providing enhanced financial, operations and management consulting services to airports and other aviation clients.

The firm also hired Alejandro Jaureguy as a roadway designer in the Miami transportation department, and Alberto Perez as a project engineer/squad leader in the electrical section of the aviation department.


Jon C. Lee has been promoted to the position of divisional vice president at Summit Contractors Inc. of Jacksonville, Fla. Lee has more than 15 years of single- and multifamily construction experience and will oversee management, estimating, preconstruction services and value engineering for his division.


John Kent has joined Ellis & Associates, an engineering firm based in Jacksonville, Fla., as a senior engineer. Also, Crystal Hadley was appointed to the position of senior technician. The firm also recently hired the following to the position of technician: James Bannon, Stephen Berg, Robert Burnsed, Michael P. Nicoletta, Michael Colburn, Climmie Hill Jr. and Roberto Rivera.

James Pliskie was hired as a driller. Additionally, Laura Hicks, Kristina Marshal and Jessica Rainey were named to the company's administration staff.


Jason Frazier has joined C.T. Hsu + Associates of Orlando as a development specialist. He will be responsible for market studies, site selection, feasibility studies, planning, design consulting, investment and development.


Bayside Engineering of Tampa recently hired William "Rob" Roberts as senior drainage engineer in the firm's transportation department. Roberts has over 23 years of professional engineering experience.


Dave Weathers has been promoted to senior estimator for Hardin Construction Co., Atlanta. Weathers previously worked as an assistant project manager.


Whitney P. Rawls has been promoted to information technology manager at Miller Construction Co. of Fort Lauderdale. He'll be responsible for the company's proprietary information systems and their operation, including data management, network infrastructure and security, and telecommunications.


David J. Rosenof has joined Weitzer Communities of Davie, Fla., as vice president of construction. Rosenof previously served as a project manager at Centex Rooney Construction Co. Weitzer is responsible for more than $700 million in real estate sales, including planned communities, townhomes, single-family homes and mid- and high-rise condominiums.


Anthony Tripido recently joined Suffolk Construction Co. of West Palm Beach as marketing director.


Dale E. Scott has joined SIKON Construction Corp. of Boca Raton and Orlando as senior vice president with responsibility for all business development initiatives and pre-construction services.

SIKON provides general contracting, construction management and design/build services.


Patrick Figurella, a project engineer with Calvin, Giordano & Associates of West Palm Beach, was presented the "2004 Young Engineer of the Year" award by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The award recognizes professional and personal achievements of professional engineers under the age of 35.


Jorge F. Basora has been named vice president of Coral Gables, Fla.-based Beame Architectural Partnership.


Beverly St. Hilaire has joined The ADP Group, a Sarasota-based architecture, interior design and planning firm, as a senior associate in interior design.


John Cole recently rejoined the construction management firm of Christiano Construction Co. in Clearwater, Fla., as a project manager.


Matt Searles has joined the Florida Division of Clancy & Theys Construction Co., Orlando, as an assistant project manager.


Mark Besoner has joined HDR in Miami Lakes as acquisition/relocation project manager. He'll assist HDR's right-of-way staff throughout Florida.


Gary Mooney has been appointed division operations manager over the east Florida division of ACI Construction Services. He was previously employed by Turner Construction Co.

Also, William G. Bitner has been named senior project engineer at the company's Tampa headquarters.


Patrick O'Brien, executive director of the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association of St. Petersburg, Fla., has been elected president of The International Association of Concrete Drillers and Sawers at the annual meeting held recently in Zurich, Switzerland.


Tonya Erbland has joined the Tampa office of Ardaman & Associates as senior environmental scientist.


J. Scott O'Brien, a 10-year veteran of Atlanta-based designer Lord, Aeck & Sargent and director of its Chapel Hill, N.C. office, has been named a principal with the firm.


Jacques Combault, a leading expert in the design and construction engineering of cable-stayed and long-span bridges, has joined Finley Engineering Group of Tallahassee, Fla., as technical director.

During his career, Combault has played a role in several innovative bridge projects, including the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa, and is a two-time nominee as Engineering News-Record's "Man of the Year."

According to FEG President Craig Finley, the addition of Combault helps further his new firm's mission of providing high-end technical expertise to innovative bridge design and construction engineering projects in the U.S. and abroad.


William R. McNeel has joined A.W. Hutchison & Associates of Atlanta as a senior project consultant. The firm provides construction dispute resolution and project risk management services,.


Robert Unger has joined Carter & Burgess of Raleigh, N.C., as a senior project manager with the firm's facilities unit.

Also, David Bilyeu has joined the firm's Tampa office as a land development unit manager. He will be responsible for leading the new unit and expanding the firm's land development engineering services.


Todd S. Potter has joined Bayside Engineering of Tampa as a roadway engineer in the firm's transportation department.


Alan Goldfinger has joined Murton Roofing Corp. of Miami as chief financial officer, a newly created position. He has assumed the financial responsibilities formerly handled by the president of the company. Goldfinger brings to Murton Roofing 25 years of experience in finance in various capacities. He previously served as the Florida region controller for a national air-conditioning and plumbing.


Joe Loughrey has been named president and chief operating officer of Cummins Inc., Columbus, Ind. Loughrey has been with the engine manufacturer for 31 years.

Jim Kelly, previously vice president and general manager, will succeed Loughrey as president of the engine business. Also, Rick Mills will become president of the new Components Group, Rich Freeland will become president - worldwide distribution business, and Steve Chapman will become group vice president - emerging markets and businesses.
