Turner Construction Co. announced
several recent promotions and appointments within its Florida
offices. Scott M. Skidelsky
was named vice president of the Florida region. In this role,
he continues as the general manager of the Orlando business
unit and also oversees the Miami business unit. His most recent
role was vice president and general manager of the Orlando
office.
James M. Fraser was named vice
president and general manager of the Miami office. Fraser
began his career with Turner in 1986 in the Connecticut office
as a field engineer. His most recent position was as manager
of the company's interiors and special projects division.
Mark E. Meranda was named vice
president and business manager of the Miami office. Meranda,
a seven-year Turner veteran, most recently served as vice
president and operations manager for the company's Washington,
D.C, office.
Stan Holley was named vice
president/chief estimator at the Tampa corporate headquarters
of Aviation Constructors Inc./ACI Commercial.
Holley is a five-year veteran of ACI.
Jim Cox was promoted to chief
executive officer at Summit Contractors,
Jacksonville, Fla. He most recently served as Summit's senior
vice president of operations.
Mary Clayton has been named
North Carolina area manager at Parsons
Brinckerhoff. In this position, Clayton will manage
PB's operations in Raleigh and Charlotte. She is a vice president
for the firm.
David J. Sample was named water
resources group leader and senior engineer at MACTEC
Engineering & Consulting. He will manage water
resources and environmental engineering projects from the
firm's Kennesaw, Ga., offices.
Ryan Wathen was recently promoted
to senior project manager for Charlotte-based Rodgers
Builders.
Michael Baker was hired as
senior project manager for The Dana
B. Kenyon Co., based in Jacksonville, Fla. Baker will
oversee the company's projects in the South Florida area.
Daniel V. Wilkins was named
project manager in the Savannah, Ga., office of Collins
Engineers, a structural, civil, water resources and
underwater engineering firm. Wilkins has more than 19 years
of experience.
Dave Hanson was promoted to
senior project manager of The Weitz
Co., West Palm Beach. Hanson has more than 11 years
of industry experience, and has been with Weitz for the past
nine years.
Garcia Brenner Stromberg, Boca
Raton, Fla., announced several recent appointments. Isaac
Campos returns to the Boca Raton office as an associate. Also,
Mark Cohen, Ismael
Hernandez, Victor Marrero
and Brian Pyle were named associates
at the firm's Boca Raton office.
In the Stuart, Fla., office, Robert
Lewis was hired as an architect and Andrew
Welch was named associate.
Also, Martha Cardona was hired
as senior accountant in the Boca Raton office, and Hilda
Doria was named administrative assistant. Finally,
Janaina Barbosa will serve as
an intern in the Boca Raton office.
Tommy Elkins was appointed
executive vice president and branch manager for Jacksonville,
Fla.-based MIL-CON's office
in Merritt Island, Fla. He previously was branch manager of
the regional office.
Brent Scarbrough of Brent
Scarbrough & Co., was recently elected president
of the Georgia Utility Contractors Association in Forest Park,
Ga.
Other newly elected GUCA officers include: first vice president

Thomas A. Lang has been appointed
Tampa division manager for Tri-City
Electrical Contractors. Lang is a 22-year veteran of
Tampa Bay's electrical contracting and service industry.
The company also named John J. Burke
senior project manager for its Central Florida commercial
division in Orlando. Burke is a 16-year industry veteran.
The Stellar Group of Jacksonville
announced several promotions and additions. In its Process
division, the company promoted Humberto
Lopez to divisional vice president, Brian
Kappele to director of project development, and Jason
Duff and Wyatt Payne
to directors of design. Also, Gerry
Gomolka joins the division as vice president of process
engineering.
In the Distribution division, Mike
Netting was named divisional vice president, while
Brian Dotolo and Andrew
Carney were promoted to directors of project development.
Also, Milton Chrissovergis was
promoted to director of business development and Mark
Van Landingham to senior project manager.
Andre Salamy and Jason Wright
were named project managers.
Richard Lovelace was promoted
to divisional vice president of the Commercial division, and
Robert West is now director
of project development.
Kevin Dufresne was named divisional
vice president for the Thermal division, and Mark
Lowery was named division vice president responsible
for the Refrigeration division. Jeff
Williams was named a divisional vice president for
the Refrigeration Parts and Service division.
Within the Power and Utilities division, Kurt
Liebendorfer was named senior vice president and Trevor
Richter was promoted to director of business development.
Curtis Lovelace was named director
of manufactured products. Also, Ammar
Hammad was hired as manager of business development
for the Middle East, and Jean-Marc
Marchand was promoted to design project manager.
Also, Phil Hinrichs is now
vice president of risk management, and Linda
Salvatore is director of human resources and payroll.
David L. Pond, executive vice
president and chief operations officer of Charlotte, N.C.-based
WK Dickson, was named "Engineer
of the Year" by the Professional Engineers of North Carolina.
Pond received the award during the PENC Professional Development
Conference, held recently in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Ray Acosta was recently appointed
partner at Farmer Baker Barrios Architects,
Orlando. Acosta has 19 years of project management experience.
Also, the firm promoted Tyler Kirby,
director of business development, to associate. Kirby has
been with FBBA since 2002, and has more than 10 years experience
in marketing and business development for A/E/C firms.
Centex Rooney Construction Co. hired
two senior preconstruction managers to support its North Florida
division. Mark Joswig will operate
from the division headquarters in Orlando and Jerry
Jernigan will operate from the Tampa office.
Will Suero was named vice
president at HDR. Suero heads
HDR's South Florida transportation operations and manages
the firm's two Miami offices. He will continue managing all
aspects of the firm's transportation planning, design and
construction management business in South Florida.
Tom Witt has joined Beame
Architectural Partnership of Coral Gables as vice president
and senior designer for retail/mixed-use projects. Witt's
experience spans three decades, with clients and projects
around the globe.
David W. Christine has joined
Cannon Design's Jacksonville,
Fla., office as associate vice president, and Pamela
H. Duff has joined as senior associate. Christine has
29 years of design and planning experience, while Duff has
been with the firm since 2000.
Shelley Gisclar was named vice
president of business development at PSI's
Orlando office. PSI is an independent engineering testing
firm.
Fred Bankert has joined URS
Corp.'s Tampa office as a senior project manager. He
will primarily serve as the firm's air transportation business
line's technology leader for environmental studies.
Reece C. Porter has been named
international business consultant at Business
Strategy First, Orlando.
Lucy Aiken Johnson, Dan
Maas and J.A. Remling
have launched ai3 inc., an Atlanta-based
interior design and architecture firm focused on specialty
commercial, corporate office, retail, restaurant and residential
design. Most recently, Aiken Johnson
and Remling served as associate principals at Thompson
Ventulett Stainback & Associates, Atlanta, and
Maas served as a senior associate at TVS.
