Brad Phillips has been named
district manager of Beck's Atlanta
office. Phillips, a 24-year Beck veteran, most recently served
as chief technology officer in the firm's Dallas headquarters.
He is a member of Beck's leadership group overseeing the firm's
mission, organization and strategy.
Additionally, Fred Perpall
was named the new director of architecture for Beck's Atlanta
office. He has been with Beck for five years.
The firm also promoted Sara Faris
from receptionist to marketing coordinator; and David
Theisen from field engineer to senior field engineer.
Also, the following employees were promoted from project administrator
to project manager: Craig Daniel, Kevin
Voss, Jeff Wheeler, Jared Rice and Maureen Smith.
The following employees were promoted from project engineer
to senior project engineer: Eric Williams,
Damian Hamlin, Jeremy Meats and Mike Monce.
Joseph P. Riley Jr., mayor
of Charleston, S.C., and honorary ASLA, will receive the American
Society of Landscape Architecture's Olmsted Medal,
recognizing his environmental leadership, vision, and stewardship.
The medal is named for Frederick Law Olmsted, the founder
of the American landscape architecture profession and an early
steward of the environment. In nearly 30 years in office,
Mayor Riley has earned national acclaim for revitalizing the
city's downtown area. As president of the U.S. Conference
of Mayors, he created the Mayor's Institute for City Design,
recognizing that a city's mayor is really its chief arbiter
of planning and design. Since its founding, the Mayor's Institute
has provided basic design education for hundreds of mayors.
The award will be presented at ASLA's annual meeting, to be
held Nov. 1 in Salt Lake City.
Matt Breen has been promoted
to senior vice president in Skanska
USA Building's Orlando office. In this capacity, he
will oversee the Orlando office operations. He previously
served as vice president.
Steven C. Hood has been named
senior vice president/principal-in-charge of Bovis
Lend Lease's Miami operations. Hood previously served
as vice president overseeing the Four Seasons Hotel and Tower
project in Miami. Rod Creach
has also been named principal-in-charge. In his new role,
Creach will manage all health-care operations from the firm's
Orlando office.
Brent Leiter has been promoted
to executive vice president in Hunt
Construction Group's Tampa office.
C. Scott Evers was recently
named senior vice president and general manager of Batson-Cook
Co.'s Tampa office. He most recently served as vice
president of construction management. He has 40 years of construction
experience, and is an eight-year veteran of Batson-Cook.
L. Dean Banks has been named
territory general manager at ACI,
a construction services firm headquartered in Tampa. Banks
has more than 25 years of construction management experience.
Scott Carr has joined Rodgers
Builders of Charlotte as a senior project manager.
Carr has more than 20 years experience in the construction
industry. Also, Brent Lyons
has joined the firm as a senior estimator in preconstruction
services. He has over 14 years experience in the construction
industry.
Nora Powers joined the Atlanta
office at Greenberg Farrow Architecture
as a civil project engineer. Also, Adam
Bailey has joined the firm as a site-development site
planner. Greenberg Farrow is a national architecture, engineering
and development consulting firm.
Edie Morgan was recently hired
as project manager for The Dana B.
Kenyon Co. of Jacksonville, Fla. She has nearly 10
years of experience in the construction industry.
Holly Magruder King has been
appointed vice president in Cannon
Design's Jacksonville, Fla., office. King is working
as a project manager.
Timothy Shaw has been hired
as a sales representative for Harmon,
Inc.'s Lithia Springs, Ga., office. He will serve the
exterior glazing needs of the company's customers in Atlanta
and throughout Georgia. Shaw joins Harmon from Nelson-Brantley
Glass Contractors in Birmingham, Ala., where he worked as
vice president.
Dale E. Scott, vice president
of Keene Construction Co., Maitland, Fla., was recently inducted
into the national Retail Hall of Fame
in Atlanta on May 12. Presented by Retail
Construction magazine, the award honors individuals
who have demonstrated leadership within the retail construction,
design and development industries. A longtime national retail
construction veteran, Scott also received the Trustees' Distinguished
Service Award in 2002 from the 48,000-member International
Council of Shopping Centers. He was the first general contracting
representative and only the 69th member overall to receive
the award in the association's 47-year history.
David Pearson has been hired
to lead the newly created interior-design division of the
Naples, Fla.-based architecture and planning firm Erickson
Associates. Pearson previously was the owner of David
Pearson Design, Inc.
Shannon Corcoran has joined
the Lakeland headquarters office of ASC
Geosciences Inc. as business development manager, specializing
in surface transportation and education. She has more than
eight years of marketing, management and business development
experience.
Thomas Helgeson, water director
for HDR's Orlando office, has been named to a one-year term
as president of the Florida Water Environment
Association, a professional organization dedicated
to protecting Florida's clean water environment.
Kathy Evans has joined General
Electric-Modular Space's Tampa office as construction
services manager for the Southeast region, including Florida,
Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.
Joe Latoff has joined the Orlando
office of Carter & Burgess.
He serves as senior project manager in traffic operations.
Latoff has 12 years of experience and comes to Carter &
Burgess from TEI Engineers and Planners, where he was a project
manager.
Gipsy T. Santos-Alborna recently
joined the Miami office of the architecture, engineering and
design firm Leo A. Daly Inc. as director of business development.
She joins the firm with nearly 20 years experience in sales,
marketing and finance within the architecture and design industries
in Florida.
HuntonBrady Architects, an
Orlando-based planning, architecture and interior design firm,
recently hired Drew Krecicki
as a senior project manager, focusing on healthcare project,
and Susan Pendergraft as a project
architect, focusing on education and commercial projects.
Daniel W. Sharpe has joined
DeBartolo Development of Tampa
as senior vice president of development and construction.
He is a 26-year construction and real estate veteran. The
company also named Mitchell Davis
as senior vice president, responsible for new business development
for the firm's single tenant build-to-suit and acquisition
division.
John Mauldin has joined the
Sarasota office of IBA Consultants
Inc. as a senior consultant. In this position, Mauldin
will review architectural plans for new structures and forensic
investigations of existing structures. IBA Consultants is
a Miami-based exterior wall, roofing and waterproofing specialist
offering review, inspection and testing to architects, developers,
owners and construction managers in the high-rise construction
industry.
Stuart H. Sobel, a shareholder
with the Coral Gables, Fla.-based law firm Siegfried, Rivera,
Lerner, De La Torre & Sobel, has been elected a fellow
of the American College of Construction
Lawyers. Sobel focuses his practice on construction-related
issues. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association's
Panel of Construction Arbitrators and the American Bar Association's
Forum on Construction Industry.
