Suffolk Construction Co. of West Palm Beach
recently announced numerous staff promotions and appointments. The contractor
promoted 10-year company veteran Chris Kennedy to vice president and
director of operations of the company’s Florida division. Also, Philip
Linton, a 13-year construction veteran, was named chief estimator.
Kurt Langford was promoted to project executive for the special
projects group, which handles fast-tracked projects under $10 million.
Gary Armstrong was promoted to general
superintendent, and John Planz was promoted to senior project manager.
Suffolk also named its first division controller, Mark
Webel. Webel will manage the day-to-day accounting, financial and
administrative activities of the Florida division.

Edward V. McNeill was
recently promoted to senior vice president of operations for
Turner Construction Co. McNeill
is based in the company’s Orlando offices. Turner also promoted
David S. Reaves to vice president
and operations manager. Reaves also works in the Orlando office. 
Hardin Construction Co. of Atlanta has promoted
both Pat Dean and Ken
Wesley in its Orlando offices to the position of construction
manager. Both are 10-year veterans of the company.
In Atlanta, the company promoted Mike Macon
to senior project manager, Dennis Evans to superintendent and Alf
Watlington to estimator II.
In Tampa, the company promoted Hank Foster to
manager of pre-construction services.

Mike G. Hood was promoted to chief operating officer of Batson-Cook
Development Co. in Atlanta. Hood formerly served as chief financial
officer.
Batson-Cook Development Co. is a commercial real
estate company and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Batson-Cook Co.

Nick Benedico has joined HNTB’s
Orlando office as an associate vice president and the manager
of its transportation design department. He has more
than 14 years of experience, most recently with a local consulting
firm where he served as the vice president in charge of the
expressway design department.
The company’s Orlando office also named Rhett C.
Leary as vice president. Leary was previously the construction services
director for HNTB Florida and is the officer-in-charge of the Florida
construction services team. He currently serves as the program manager for the
Western Beltway SR 429 project west of Orlando.

Greg Bankhurst was named senior project manager
by WCI Communities for the developer’s
30-story, 210-unit BellaMaré luxury condominium tower currently
under construction in Williams Island. The 20-year veteran
of construction and development recently served as president
of Carey Construction, a construction management and development
firm.
The company also named Michael Patrizio as
project manager for its One Bal Harbour residential and hotel condominium in
Bal Harbour. The 26-story tower will feature 185 residential units and
incorporate a 17-story hotel component.

Scott Head, sales manager for
Coreslab Structures of Atlanta,
was recently named vice president. A 27-year veteran of the
precast concrete industry, he will be responsible for estimating,
sales and marketing for the Atlanta operation.

Curtis Becker, project manager and MEP specialist, has joined the
Orlando office of The Robins & Morton Group. Also, Randy
Longshore has joined as a superintendent, and Grant Carlson was
named on-site safety director for the company’s Arnold Palmer Hospital project
in Orlando.

Peninsula Engineering of Orlando recently named
Dennis Barger, David Burger
and Donald Stewart as principals
and Eamon Nagle as associate
principal.
The company also promoted Rich King to the
position of project manager, and named Joe Trusty as a mechanical
project engineer.

Brett Kratzerhas joined Dorsky
Hodgson + Partners as a principal in the firm’s commercial
studio.In addition to his national duties, he will be also
working part-time in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale offices.

Harvard Jolly, an architecture
firm based in Maitland, Fla., recently hired Gina
Buendia as project coordinator and Arbadella
Bryant as administrative assistant. Buendia will coordinate
educational and governmental projects, while Bryant will lead
the Orlando office’s administration department.
In its Fort Lauderdale office, the firm hired John
Rhodes as construction/project coordinator and Renee
Stonom as administrative assistant. A 23-year industry
veteran, Rhodes will lead Harvard Jolly’s construction administration
efforts in South Florida. Stonom will lead the Fort Lauderdale
office’s administration department.

Steve Berry, president of West
Palm Beach-based Paver Systems LLC,
was recently named chairman of the Interlocking
Concrete Pavement Institute.

Patrick M. DeWitt was recently named manager of Thompson
Pump & Manufacturing’s service center in Savannah, Ga. He will oversee
support, delivery and office personnel, as well as manage service and pump
system installation efforts of the branch.

Bill Mitchellhas been named
director of business development for DooleyMack
Constructors of Sarasota, Fla. Mitchell, a 23-year
veteran of business development, had previously worked for
Coldwell Banker’s central Florida real estate division in
Orlando, will be responsible for opening new markets for DooleyMack
from Key West to the Florida Panhandle.

Don Winsetthas been named president
of Stiles Landscape Co., Fort
Lauderdale. The company is the landscape division of commercial
real-estate firm Stiles Corp. He will be responsible for the
operations and growth of the company, which provides comprehensive
landscape renovation and landscape maintenance services for
major commercial projects, institutions and luxury residential
properties throughout Florida.
TLC Engineering for Architecture of
Orlando, has named three new principals: Angel
Lorenzo, director of the Miami division; Jorge
Reyes, mechanical project engineer in the Miami division;
and Mark Kramer, electrical
project engineer in the Ft. Myers division. 
Justin Cunningham has joined
Palmer Electric as the company’s
new multi-family division manager. In this capacity, Cunningham
will oversee the firm’s apartment, timeshare and condominium
projects. 
Jerry Fitch was recently named
Southeast territory manager BOMAG Americas
Inc. In this position, Fitch will be responsible for
the sale of Bomag and Hypac products in Georgia, South Carolina,
Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Scott A. Jacobs has been appointed
to the position of staff engineer in the Tampa office of Ardaman
& Associates, a geotechnical engineering firm based
in Orlando.
