Suitt Construction Co. announced Allen Smith
has been named director of business development for the company's
pharmaceutical group and is responsible for selling its design-build,
construction and construction management services to pharmaceutical
and biotechnology clients across the United States.
Based in Raleigh, N.C., Smith's duties include managing existing
clients and developing new accounts. He is a veteran of 30
years in the engineering and construction industry.
Skanska USA Building announced that industry veteran
H. Jessie Brewer has joined the company as president of
its Carolinas Division. The company has offices in Winston-Salem,
Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.
Brewer's most recent position was as executive vice president
of Centex Construction Co.'s Southeast division. Prior to
that, he worked with Centex subsidiary Centex Rooney Construction
Co. for his entire career.
"Jessie Brewer is a strong operational leader with an
impressive depth of experience in strategic planning and business
development," said Skanska USA Building President and
Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Healy. "He will make
an excellent addition to our senior management team, and we
are looking forward to Jessie continuing Skanska's successful
growth in the Carolinas."
The Stellar Group, Jacksonville, Fla., recently announced
the promotion of several individuals to key positions. Ronald
H. Foster, Jr., formerly executive vice president, will
take over as president and CEO. Foster's promotion enables
H. Bobby Cothren, a company founder and formerly president
and COO, to move to the corporate board as vice chairman.
Also serving as corporate directors are Donald L. Smith,
previously senior vice president and CFO, and V. Earl Glisson,
formerly senior vice president.
Scott V. Witt, promoted from vice president to senior
vice president, will take over for Smith as CFO. Ronald
H. Foster, Sr., another Stellar founder, will remain chairman
of the board. Other members of the leadership team including
Kennon G. Holmes, Lee A. Robbins, Michael
S. Santarone, Charles R. Taylor, and Ernest
A. Veale will continue as senior vice presidents.
The company also recently named David Slankard as
director of business development for its thermal division.
His new responsibilities include identification, qualification,
and development of prospective clients for continued business
growth for low-temperature insulation and roofing systems.
Centex Rooney Construction Co., Plantation, Fla.,
announced the promotions of Doug Simms to chief financial
officer, Andrew Colb to controller and Mary Mallard
to assistant controller in the company's corporate financial
Simms joined the Centex organization in 1998 as controller
and was promoted to vice president in 2000. His responsibilities
will include financial reporting, annual budgeting, owner
financing, risk management, insurance and loss control, as
well as contract review and project accounting training.
Colb joined Centex Rooney in 1997 as a senior financial analyst
and was promoted to assistant controller in 2000. As controller,
his responsibilities will expand to include management of
the company's accounting functions.
Mallard joined Centex Rooney in February 2000 as a staff
accountant and was promoted to senior financial analyst in
2001. In her new position, Mallard's responsibilities will
expand to include financial reporting, job costing and general
ledger, as well as staff management and development.
Kraft Construction Co., Naples, Fla., recently named
Robert A. Koenig to the position of vice president
and Lee County area manager. Previously Koenig served as vice
president with Centex Rooney Construction Co. He will be based
in Kraft's Fort Myers, Fla., office, which recently relocated
to 13350 Metro Parkway, Suite 304. He will oversee the firm's
Lee County operations as well as assist in Kraft's regional
SchenkelShultz Architecture, with offices in Orlando,
has reorganized its management structure to accommodate continued
growth. Michael S. Gouloff will serve as chairman/chief
executive officer and J. Thomas Chandler will serve
as president/chief operations officer.
Chandler, formerly senior vice president, opened SchenkelShultz's
first Florida office in Orlando in 1983. Since that time,
the Florida operation has grown to include offices in Fort
Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach and Tampa.
Autobuilders General Contracting Services, West Palm
Beach, Fla., recently named Bob Keller to the position
of project manager. In this position, Keller will oversee
and supervise all aspects of auto dealership construction
from permitting to completion.
The company also announced the appointment of Svetta Pritsker
to the position of administrative assistant. She will provide
administrative support to the firm's marketing and estimating
and contract departments.
PSA Constructors, a program and construction management
firm with offices in West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach, Fla.,
recently hired Edward R. Oppel as senior project manager.
Oppel formerly served as chief operating officer and chief
of facilities management for the School District of Palm Beach
County, and also worked previously as executive director of
the Port of Palm Beach.
Hoar Construction, Orlando, recently announced that
Don Vinson, Ray Bowen and Kyle Abney
have joined the firm.
HDR, an architecture-engineering-consulting firm, has
opened a new office in Sarasota, Fla. The office is located
in the Live Oak Office Center at 2201 Cantu Court, Suite 107.
Managing the office is Donald R. Holcomb, a senior
transportation project manager and engineer.
Bill Anderson, president of Associated Builders
and Contractors of Georgia, Atlanta, recently earned the
Certified Association Executive designation from the American
Society of Association Executives.
