Skanska USA Announces Several Appointments in Atlanta

Thomas R. Underwood was promoted to vice president of operations for the Atlanta office of Skanska USA. Underwood is a 17-year veteran of the construction industry, and first joined the company in 1997.

Skanska also announced that Lisa S. Mingoia has joined the Atlanta office as corporate counsel for the company’s southern region. She will act as corporate counsel for Skanska in the Carolinas, Georgia and Massachusetts. Mingoia previously served as vice president and regional counsel for an international construction management company.

Also in Atlanta, Skanska USA hired Mark LeBlanc and Scott Thompson.

LeBlanc will serve as vice president of operations, focusing on the higher education, life sciences and government sectors.

Thompson is the new director of business development, focused on the region covered by Atlanta’s office: Georgia, North and South Carolina, and parts of Tennessee and Florida.

In Durham, N.C., Bob Celli has joined the company as regional procurement director for the Southeast. Celli will be responsible for supporting projects in Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia.

Dennis LaGatta , a vice president and 22-year veteran of Heery International in Atlanta, was named to head the company’s program-management division. LaGatta steps into the role left vacant by David Kimmel’s departure to lead the Georgia Aquarium as its new president and COO.

Martin B. Moser was named vice president of Barnhill Contracting Co.’s building division, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C.

Moser has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry, including project management, business development and preconstruction estimating services. The graduate of Clemson University began his career with Barnhill.

Brian Curtin has been named president of BRPH Architects – Engineers in Melbourne, Fla. Curtin has been with BRPH for 20 years and most recently served as executive vice president.

James J. (Jim) Orlando was named president of DooleyMack Constructors of Sarasota. Orlando has been serving as president of DooleyMack Constructors of South Florida.

In his new role, Orlando will oversee construction services, administrative and project development for both business units. He is a 25-year veteran of the construction industry.

Pirtle Construction Co . of Davie, Fla., announced the promotion of Jessie Brewer to senior vice president, Bill Ellis to vice president and Gary Pirtle to vice president.

Brewer, who joined Pirtle in 2007, will continue to provide operational leadership, and begin developing key strategic initiatives.

Ellis, who has worked for Pirtle for the past 15 years, is overseeing the company’s safety and worker’s compensation efforts.

Pirtle, with more than 30 years of construction management experience, joined Pirtle Construction Co. in 2000 after completing over 20 years with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps. In his new role, he will focus on client and project development in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties.

Ed Turanchik has joined the Orlando office of Wilbur Smith Associates as director of strategy and communications. Turanchik will work in WSA’s newly formed office focusing on high-speed rail, led by Adrian Share.

Share is leading the program management team that was hired by the Florida Dept. of Transportation for high-speed and other passenger rail. Turanchik will develop and implement the public outreach elements of the Florida High Speed Rail program.

Turanchik founded and organized Florida’s high-speed rail grassroots organization, ConnectUs, of which he will continue to serve as an officer in a volunteer capacity.

Dewberry named Sam Fleming senior water resources project manager in its Atlanta office. He will be responsible for the business development and management of municipal government water resources projects.

In Raleigh, Joe L. Langston, Jr., manager of municipal and civil engineering, was promoted to senior associate. Steven D. Harvey was also promoted to senior associate in the Raleigh office.

Manfred H. Radtke, manager of mechanical engineering in the Raleigh office, was promoted to associate.

In Chapel Hill, N.C., Donald Reed Burroughs, a principal-in-charge with IES Engineers-Dewberry, Dewberry’s mechanical/electrical engineering practice area, was promoted to associate vice president.

Foram Group of Savannah, Ga., hired Will Burgstiner as Georgia and South Carolina portfolio manager as the firm focuses on bolstering its portfolio in those states.

Foram will serve as advisors to owners of Savannah River Landing, a 54-acre projected development located along the Savannah River just east of downtown.

Bayview Construction of Stuart, Fla., hired Thomas Kenny IV as a project manager/engineer. Kenny previously served as the manager of land acquisitions and development for Mercedes Homes.

Sean Tracy has joined the Orlando office of Zyscovich Architects, where he will serve as a project manager and assist with business development for the Central Florida region.

Daniel E. Glaser joined planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam as a practice builder and team leader.

Glaser will be responsible for leading the firm’s business development and project execution efforts for clients throughout West Central Florida and in other Florida markets.

Christopher Flass has joined the Orlando office of SchenkelShultz Architecture as a designer. Formerly an intern with the firm, Flass recently earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia.

Heather Alhadeff has joined Perkins+Will of Atlanta as senior transportation planner in the firm’s Urban Design discipline.

Alhadeff recently served as assistant director of transportation planning in the Bureau of Planning for the City of Atlanta.

Robbie Gronbach has joined Willis A. Smith Construction of Sarasota, Fla., as a project manager. Gronbach is a graduate of the University of Florida’s M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Building Construction, from which he holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in building sciences.

Nicole Biernat has joined GATES of Naples, Fla., as project coordinator. Biernat is responsible for overall support functions to the project management and estimating staff.

J.L. Wallace of Fort Myers, Fla., promoted Brad Kaaber to the position of junior project manager. Kaaber is a recent graduate of Everglades University. He joined the firm in 2008 as a project manager assistant.

Also, Noel Miranda joined J.L. Wallace as a project manager assistant. Miranda has more than 12 years of industry experience.

GLE Associates of Tampa recently hired three new environmental scientists. John Romeis comes to GLE from REA Remedial Solutions in Valrico, Fla., where he served as a staff scientist and quality control manager.

Brandon Christensen comes to GLE from EE&G Environmental Services in Miami, where he served as an environmental technician and project manager.

Noelle Bruno comes to GLE from Warren & Panzer Engineers, an environmental consulting and analytical laboratory in Albany, N.Y., where she served as laboratory director and asbestos inspector for three years.
