ValleyCrest Acquires Homestead, Fla., Firm

Calabasas, Calif.-based ValleyCrest Cos. has acquired Tropics North Landscaping, a landscape installation and maintenance firm headquartered in Homestead, Fla.

Tropics North Landscaping is run by company president Charles Gonzalez, and provides installation and maintenance services to customers in South Florida and the Bahamas. According to ValleyCrest, Tropics North Landscaping was recently ranked by Lawn & Landscape magazine as the 30th-largest landscaping company in the U.S.

Gonzalez will remain as a company vice president and regional manager.

H&E Equipment Services Acquires J.W. Burress

H&E Equipment Services, a distributor of heavy construction and industrial equipment based in Baton Rouge, La., announced its acquisition of J.W. Burress. J.W. Burress is the authorized dealer for Grove, Manitowoc, Doosan, Dynapac, Gomaco and other brands within a territory that includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia.

Bill Daly, former senior vice president with J.W. Burress, has been named division vice president-Mid-Atlantic/South.

Builders Plus Expands into New Florida Markets

Builders Plus, a Boynton Beach, Fla.-based tilt-up contractor, announces it will be expanding into the Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers and Naples area markets during 2008.

 “Builders Plus has a firm presence in the South Florida market,” said John Held, president of Builders Plus, in a press statement announcing the 2008 focus. “It is our goal to eventually have a strong presence in every major market across the state of Florida.”

Allied Steel Buildings Continues Expansion

Allied Steel, a manufacturer and supplier of pre-engineered steel buildings, has opened a new office in downtown Orlando. Ben Meister will be leading the company’s growth in the Orlando market.

The company states it is now delivering more than 800 building projects per year.
