SUCA Awards Annual Scholarships
The Suncoast Utility Contractors Association awarded its
18th annual scholarships in Clearwater, Fla. Awards are paid
at $1,000 per year for four years.
SUCA awarded its 2006 scholarship to LeeAnne Bowers, daughter
of Diane and Bruce Bowers of GS Equipment, Tampa. Bowers graduated
from Bloomingdale High School in Valrico with a 5.01 GPA.
She will be attending Florida State University.
The association also presented their contuing installments
to two previous scholarship recipients. Matthew Horan, son
of Carol and Mike Horan of Ajax Paving Industries, received
his second installment. Horan was the 2005 scholarship recipient,
and is currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology
in Atlanta.
Thomas Lightcap was on hand to receive his final installment.
Lightcap, son of Susan and Tom Lightcap of Superior Asphalt,
is attending Columbia University.
SUCA represents the utility construction industry in several
counties in the Tampa Bay area.
Dewberry Opens Tampa
Office
Fairfax, Va.-based engineering and architecture firm Dewberry
has opened an office in Tampa. The new location will support
the firm's ongoing work in water resources, emergency management,
hazard mitigation and geographic information systems.
Dewberry has provided disaster technical assistance to FEMA
nationwide for more than 20 years.
QORE Opens Office in Charlotte
QORE Property Sciences recently opened a new office in Charlotte,
its fifth location serving the Carolinas region and 22nd in
the Southeast. The Duluth, Ga.-based firm provides engineering
consulting.
api(+) Establishes Miami Office
Tampa-based design firm api(+) announced an expansion with
a new office in Miami. The firm offers architecture, interior
design and graphic communications design.
