Yancey Bros. Teams With College to Enhance Education Curriculum

Altamaha Technical College of Baxley, Ga., and Atlanta-based Caterpillar equipment distributor Yancey Bros. Co. announced an agreement to provide a new technical education curriculum featuring a heavy equipment service technician program beginning this fall.

Yancey is the nation's oldest Caterpillar dealer and has served Georgia since 1914. It is the fourth partnership between Yancey and the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education.

Core Construction Opens New Orlando Office

Core Construction, formerly known as Southern Gulf West Construction, opened a new office in Orlando. The firm's current projects include condominium developments in Long Boat Key, Jacksonville and Sarasota. The firm specializes in commercial, institutional, educational, hospitality and multi-family construction.

Firm Expands Office Locations

Comprehensive Energy Services, a mechanical contracting firm based in Altamonte Springs, Fla., announced the opening of its new office in Pembroke Pines, Fla. The firm has been ranked by the University of Florida as one of the state's 100 fastest-growing private companies. The firm specializes in service, design-build, high tech and conventional commercial projects.

Acquisition Merges Two Complimentary Firms

Corrosion Restoration Technologies of Jupiter, Fla., was acquired in April by Structural Preservation Systems of Fort Lauderdale and Baltimore. CRT specializes in applying engineering solutions to structures with corrosion problems. SPS specializes in technologies that build, repair, protect, strengthen and reinforce concrete, steel, masonry, timber and soils.

Multi-Lingual Workbooks Available

The American Road & Transportation Builders Association and the National Association of Women in Construction are offering two new publications: a pocket-sized Spanish-English dictionary of construction terms, and a Spanish-English construction communication book containing a list of safety terms, job-site slang and common sentences on the job site.
