York Comprehensive High School and Technology Center

Edifice General Contractors of Charlotte, N.C., is building a 416,000-sq-ft high school for York School District One in York, S.C., which will accommodate approximately 1,800 students.

The project includes construction of a two-story, structural-steel frame academic building, with vocational and technology wings; one-story, load-bearing masonry activity building, with a gymnasium and other athletic-support facilities, 1,000-seat auditorium and fine-arts areas; and an athletic complex with a stadium, field houses, concession areas, track, tennis courts and playing fields for baseball, softball and soccer.

The campus, situated on 128 acres, will incorporate sustainable-design features such as natural daylighting, water efficiency, mixed-use outdoor spaces and labs, and open-air social spaces, as well as the preservation of indigenous habitation.
