Southeast’s Top Projects - 11

West Kendall Baptist Hospital

Project Cost: $120 million

West Kendall Baptist Hospital

Baptist Health South Florida is reaching west, building a new, $120-million satellite hospital in West Kendall, a growing community.

Robins & Morton of Birmingham, Ala., began construction on the 134-bed hospital, medical office building and central energy plant in 2008 and expects to complete the project in January 2011. The four-story, 282-sq-ft hospital is being built to withstand 180-mph winds.

All clinical services will be on the first floor, with patient rooms on the upper levels. The new facility features single, universal-care rooms, in which the patient can stay in the same room no matter the level of care needed, including intensive care. The facility also will offer maternity care, surgical services, endoscopy, diagnostic imaging and emergency services. The emergency department is designed to handle more than 40,000 visits per year.
