The Southeast's Top Heavy/Highway Contractors

Inaugural Ranking Shows Some of the Southeast's Top Firms

By Scott Judy

In our continuing effort to document the Southeast's construction industry, Southeast Construction presents its inaugural ranking of the region's Top Heavy/Highway Contractors.

Like our other company-based rankings - Top Contractors, Top Specialty Contractors and Top Design - this list is based upon information that the firms provided through a one-page survey form. Firms listed here either submitted a Top Heavy/Highway Contractors survey form, or a Top Contractors form earlier in the year.

Like our other rankings, this listed is based on revenue from the preceding calendar year that was generated from the four-state Southeast territory of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Taking the top spot in this inaugural ranking is APAC, the giant Atlanta-based transportation contractor. Here, APAC reported $907 million in 2005 revenue from the Southeast.

In the future, Southeast Construction will be looking to greatly expand the depth of this list. If your firm would like to participate in next year's Top Heavy/Highway Contractor ranking, please send your information to: Scott Judy, editor, Southeast Construction, scott_judy@mcgraw-hill.com, (386) 673-9887.
