A ranking of architectural and engineering firms in the Southeast

This year's ranking of the region's top design firms includes architectural and engineering firms from the magazine's territory of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The ranking has grown slightly from last year, from the 80 firms included in the 2003 ranking to the 85 listed here. The collective value of billings has escalated slightly as well. Last year, the collective billings for our Top Design ranking totaled nearly $1.5 billion. This year, the collective regional billings climbed to almost exactly $1.7 billion.

The Top Design ranking is based upon each firm's 2003 billings figures for projects performed in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. By state, the cumulative design billings were as follows: Florida - slightly more than $1 billion; Georgia - $368.5 million; North Carolina - almost $223.2 million; and South Carolina - almost $103.4 million.
