Seven architectural design firms from North and South Carolina and their building partners were recognized for designing with brick at the "Design with Brick 2005" awards presentation held during the American Institute of Architects North Carolina Convention recently. Winners included:

North Carolina School of the Arts Chamber Music Hall
|
The President's Award - LS3P Associates, Charlotte.LS3P Associates won this award for its Johnson & Wales University Classroom and Culinary Lab Building in Charlotte. The firm was cited for innovative use of brick in conjunction with other materials.
Honor Award - Roger H. Clark, FAIA and Cannon Architects, Apex, N.C. The Clark/Cannon design team was honored for its design of the second phase of St. Mary Magdalene Church and School in Apex, N.C. Phase 2 featured completion of the 38,000 sq.-ft. school building. Judges praised Clark/Cannon's merging of traditional features with timeless architectural trends.
Merit Award - Calloway Johnson Moore & West, Winston-Salem, N.C., for its North Carolina School of the Arts Chamber Music Hall project in Winston-Salem.

Unique Brick Detailing and Special Use of Brick - Lord, Aeck & Sargent Architecture, Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Biomolecular Research Building at UNC Chapel Hill.
