Despite announcing earlier this year plans to prequalify design-builders for portions of the $8 billion Everglades restoration project, the South Florida Water Management District has hired engineering firms to design the facilities.
The district will prequalify construction contractors and construction managers at risk, on a project-by-project basis, to complete the work being designed.
South Florida Water Management District will keep the construction contract prequalification process continually open to allow contractors missing the original solicitation, earlier this summer, to submit their qualifications for approval. The first package will be for the $300 million-plus Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir Project.
